Committees: Venture Capital

Objective

The Venture Committee of the BVCA exists to support the interests of the UK venture industry and the high growth companies that it backs.  The committee does so by:

1. Providing support to venture firms fundraising efforts by supplying appropriate industry data, insights and making the case for the asset class

2. Telling the story of entrepreneurship to a wider audience, and show how venture capital supports entrepreneurs, changes lives and builds jobs in the UK and Europe

3. Achieving high levels of venture membership and ensure there is a high level of satisfaction with the service the BVCA provides

4. Promoting an entrepreneurial economy through appropriate fiscal and regulatory policies

Activity

• Promoting the ‘manifesto for venture’ to investors, fund managers, Government, and other audiences to demonstrate the economic case for venture and its wider contributions to society.
• Hosting informative conferences such as the University Spin-out Conference, held annually in November, to inform and link entrepreneurs and investors and attract attention to the sector.
• Conducting or recommending research that the BVCA should undertake to support this segment of the membership.
