For fourteen years Roger Black represented Great Britain at the highest level in the world of athletics, both as an individual 400 metre runner and as a member of the 4x400 metre relay team.
He won fifteen major Championship medals including European, Commonwealth, and World Championship Gold medals. His greatest achievement was winning the Olympic 400 metre Silver medal in 1996 and he is particularly admired for his triumphs over adversity, successfully overcoming several serious injuries and setbacks throughout his career.
He was British Men's Team Captain and was awarded the M.B.E. in 1992. Roger is now a television presenter and an accomplished motivational speaker and conference host.
Roger continues to be involved in sport off the track, and has recently been involved in promoting the 2012 Olympics, as well as presenting sporting events for the BBC since his retirement. He was involved in the coverage of the 2002 Sydney Olympics, the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and the World Athletics Championships in 2001, all with the BBC. Similarly, he has regularly featured on popular television shows, including Tomorrow's World, Grandstand, and A Question of Sport.
