Guest Speaker - Darren Campbell

Darren is one of Britain's finest ever 100m and 200m sprinters. He has amassed a collection of 12 major championship medals, including three European and two Commonwealth golds. He also achieved Olympic success, with a silver in the 200m race in Sydney and a famous gold in the 4x100m at Athens, where the team recorded a staggering time of 38.19 seconds.

After early success as a junior, Darren played football for Plymouth Argyle and Newport before returning to athletics. He began training with Linford Christie and made steady progress, improving his personal best each year and shaving off 0.29 seconds in Sydney.

In his speeches, Darren reveals how the occasional highs outweigh the relentless hardship of training. He describes having to balance the single-mindedness of the élite sprinter with the responsibilities of becoming a father, learning to focus his passion into productive channels.
