On Thursday 18th March over 330 guests gathered at the BVCA North East Dinner held in Leeds to celebrate their recent achievements.
Hugh Lenon, Managing Partner of Phoenix Equity Partners and incoming BVCA Chairman, took the opportunity to outline what he viewed to be the most important priorities for the industry in the year ahead. Priorities included the necessity to better articulate the positive contribution private equity and venture capital make to the UK's economy; the need to work with our European counterparts to mitigate the most damaging elements of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, and the need to maintain a stable and competitive tax framework to ensure the UK preserves and reinforces its position as the centre for European private equity, venture capital and entrepreneurship.
Perry McCarthy (aka The Stig), the famous, but usually unseen member the BBC's Top Gear team, also entertained the audience with his account of Formula One racing and life on Top Gear.
