Coronavirus – important BVCA update

The spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a major impact on the way we go about our lives and our business. At the BVCA we have been carefully monitoring all the health advice issued by the government and other agencies and responding to the evolving business situation. Having reviewed the information available to us, the BVCA Council have made the following decisions:

Events and Training

We will be postponing all our events and training courses scheduled between Thursday 12 March and Friday 29 May. We plan to reschedule the postponed events and courses for later in the year.

Events and courses scheduled for June and beyond are currently expected to take place, but we will continue to monitor developments and will contact you again if things change.

Committees and Advisory Groups

In line with the Council decision about events and training, we will be moving all meetings of committees and advisory groups to telephone conference calls from Thursday 12 March until further notice. BVCA personnel will be in touch with the individuals concerned to confirm the arrangements. Please contact if you have any questions in the meantime.

Member Survey

Our stakeholders in government and at different regulators need to understand how the outbreak is affecting the economy and we have agreed to provide regular updates for them.

To facilitate this, we will be conducting a survey to assess the impact that Coronavirus is having on UK private equity and venture capital fund managers and their portfolio companies. The survey will be sent to senior contacts from our GP member firms, and the results will provide important analysis for our engagement with the government, regulators and others. We intend to repeat the survey periodically through the most significant period of the outbreak. The results of the survey are for our dialogue with policymakers only and will not be published.

We would be very grateful for your co-operation on this work, which we hope will inform the right decisions and measures by government.

Technical Update

We will also be producing a technical update for members to ensure firms are kept up to date on the latest developments and advice from government and regulators.
