Marie Cooper started her career in retail, working at her parents business, she had all good intentions of working her way through the education route of GCSE, A Levels and University. Unfortunately, at 18 Marie had a serious car accident that meant she missed the start of year 2 A Level courses, so she took the opportunity to take her PSV test. Marie passed the test and took a job driving buses for 6 months. Still wanting to work in accounts Marie found a job at DC Cook Motor Dealers where she worked her way from Admin Assistant to Management Accountant. After the business went into receivership in 2001, Marie found out the importance of having qualifications as well as experience, she took an assistant accountants position that paid for her AAT Studies, after completing these Marie continued to ACCA and Management account at David Brown Pumps. In 2005 Marie moved companies to take on the Finance Manager role at Flow Group in Sheffield, after a successful 5 years working as a management team they completed an MBO to buy the business, after tripling turnover and profitability the business was sold to an American corporate in 2010. Marie spent 15 months transitioning the business before leaving & setting up CBE Ltd with her business partner Chris Brown, over the last 2 years they have acquired 4 businesses with over 80 staff and Marie has taken on the role of CEO to grow and expand the group.
