Once a reputational issue for business, ESG is now an increasingly integral part of any investment consideration. More and more institutional investors are signing up to coalitions like the UN Principles for Responsible Investment and expect fund managers to equally demonstrate deeper commitment to ESG with strong frameworks in place. And from March 2021, the introduction of the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation implores funds to better understand the ESG status of their portfolio investments. But what does ‘real ESG’ look like? How can investors truly get a feel for the ESG credentials of a target? Join Henry Smith and Maria Knapp, partners at Control Risks for this webinar where they’ll walk through how you can get your ESG assessments right in your investments including: • Navigating the ESG standards ecosystem and outlook for future ESG regulations • Situating ESG within the deal diligence process- when to investigate, how to investigate, who should drive it • Leveraging ESG report findings in valuation exercises
