Access to DC pension fund capital has been an objective of the industry for some time. As the government looks to support the COVID recovery, renewed efforts to open up this funding source are being listened to carefully. Our panel will consider what is at stake and how the BVCA will be pushing matters forward.
Michael Moore, Director General, BVCA
Over the past 30 years he has operated at senior levels in both politics and business. In his political career he was a Member of Parliament for 18 years and served in the Cabinet at the time of the Coalition as Secretary of State for Scotland.
After his period as a minister he served as European Business Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister. He also successfully piloted legislation through Westminster which enshrines the UN’s ‘0.7%’ aid spending commitment in UK law.
Following the 2015 General Election Michael became a Senior Adviser at PwC, working with boards and ‘C-suite’ executives on the strategic implications of Brexit and other political issues.
Gurpreet Manku, Assistant Director General & Director of Policy, BVCA
Gurpreet Manku is the BVCA’s Deputy Director General and Director of Policy. She is responsible for leading the BVCA’s response to a wide range of issues and challenges facing the industry from a legal and regulatory perspective, both in the UK and Europe. She is also the executive liaison to the Private Equity Reporting Group, the body responsible for monitoring the industry’s compliance with the Walker Guidelines on Transparency and Disclosure. Before joining the BVCA she worked at Deloitte LLP and specialised in advising private equity funds and their managers. Gurpreet studied at the London School of Economics and is a Chartered Accountant and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales
