A-Gas is a world leader in the supply and lifecycle management of refrigerant and industrial gases, fire suppressants and blowing agents.
Founded in 1993, the Bristol-headquartered business is now active in 10 countries with five strategic business units and employing around 500 people worldwide. It is one of the standout business of the South West and has grown significantly with private equity support over the course of more than a decade.
GCP first backed the business in 2007 before selling its stake to LDC in 2011, at which time the business employed just 120 people. Following the LDC-backed management buyout, A-Gas executed a rapid expansion strategy in the UK and internationally, and following further investment from LDC to the tune of £30 million, completed six acquisitions as it expanded its geographic footprint and service capabilities.
Between 2011 and 2016, the business grew revenues 79% and profits 103% before it was acquired by KKR in December 2017, at which point LDC also reinvested.
