Farrow & Ball

Farrow & Ball is a manufacturer and retailer of premium paints and hand crafted wallpapers and is one of a few remaining manufacturers to make all of the paint and wallpaper sold under its name.

The business was founded by former chemists John Farrow and Richard Maurice Ball in 1946 in Wimborne, Dorset, which is still the home of the company today where it continues to manufacture all its products. The company now has 55 showrooms across the UK, Europe and the US and a global network of stockists covering 67 markets.

Starting with paints, the company transcended into providing wallpaper and eco-friendly product equivalents. Farrow & Ball’s USP is in the method its creators work with – using age-old production methods with natural minerals and high levels of rich pigment.

In 2006 European Capital invested in the business and both turnover and EBITDA tripled over the next eight years through domestic and international expansion. Ares Management acquired Farrow & Ball in December 2014.
