Guide to competition law risks

Recent high profile investigations and subsequent fines imposed by the European Commission and other national competition authorities have demonstrated the need for private equity firms to monitor the impact of competition law. This has coincided in the UK with an expanding role of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) following the competition law reforms in 2014.

We also contribute to pan-Europe responses to Commission consultations on merger control.

To reduce the risks that a business can face, the CMA has published a short guide in collaboration with The Institute of Risk Management that includes a summary of competition law risks, several case studies and a recommended approach to compliance, which will be helpful to financial investors and portfolio companies alike.
