BVCA applauds StartUp Britain
Speaking about today's launch of StartUp Britain, Mark Florman, Chief Executive of the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, said:
"In our Year of Venture, I want to throw my complete support behind StartUp Britain. This is a fantastic initiative backed by some of the country's best entrepreneurs and business leaders. By celebrating innovation and supporting start-ups, it is an important step to creating a true enterprise culture."
Venture capital has a crucial role to play here. Venture capital firms invest in the sorts of business that will be central to Britain's ability to compete and lead in the new economy which emerges from the recession. In areas such as clean-tech, drug discovery, software and biotech, VC firms are using their capital and experience to ensure these technologies are commercialised and help combat the greatest challenges of the 21st century."
