BVCA Guide to Responsible Investment

The publication, originally published in 2009, seeks to improve firms' understanding of environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities, showing how these can be managed within a structured investment framework.

An effective responsible investment approach requires a focus on ESG issues throughout all phases of every investment, from pre-investment diligence, through active ownership, up to the time of exit. This updated version of the Guide takes the guidance offered to a more detailed and practical level, throughout the life cycle of private equity and venture capital investments.

The BVCA has worked in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Waterman Group PLC to produce this edition. We hope that firms find this a useful tool and would welcome feedback on how the Guide can be improved as we continue to introduce additional supplements and finesse the Guide. Please forward your comments to [email protected].
