BVCA welcomes Cheryl Potter as Chair

The British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) is pleased to announce that Cheryl Potter, a Partner at Permira and Co-head of the Consumer team, has taken over as Chair for 2019/20.
Cheryl joined Permira in 1999 and during her time at the firm has run the London office, served on the firm’s Executive Committee and the Compensation and Partnership Committee. She has worked on numerous transactions, including: Allegro Group; Arcaplanet; Creganna; Dr. Martens; Homebase; Iglo Group (and its subsequent acquisition of Findus Italy); Maxeda; and Schustermann & Borenstein. Cheryl is also on the Advisory Council of Level 20, a Founding Patron of Women Supporting Women (part of The Prince’s Trust) and a member of Tick Tock, a fundraising committee for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Cheryl said: “I am delighted to be taking over as Chair of the BVCA, most recently from Calum Paterson, who has done an outstanding job, but also from so many esteemed members of the industry who have gone before. I am looking forward to working with Tim and the rest of the team at the BVCA to highlight the positive role our industry can and does play in building better businesses in all economic and political environments, not least in the particularly interesting year we have ahead of us!”
Tim Hames, Director General of the BVCA, said: “I am so pleased that Cheryl has agreed to assume the mantle of BVCA Chair. She has a wealth of experience across the industry but her outstanding understanding of the consumer sector will be a particular and welcome asset. We are living through very turbulent times as a country but Cheryl is up for the challenge.” Cheryl succeeds Calum Paterson, Managing Partner of SEP, as BVCA Chair.
