Cambridge Education Group (CEG), the pre-university training specialist, has picked up two prestigious business awards from the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) in recognition of its outstanding performance over the past year, both at home and abroad.

Based in Cambridge but with a presence throughout the UK, as well as in the US and the Netherlands, CEG is a provider of foundation programmes and English language training for international students wishing to prepare for university. The business has been backed by UK private equity house Bridgepoint since December 2013.

The Group was named Management Team of the Year (Large Buyout) and International Impact Team of the Year in the Midlands final of the BVCA Management Team Awards, produced in association with Grant Thornton UK LLP. Now in its seventh successful year, these are the only awards which recognise and celebrate the achievements and success of UK businesses which are backed by private equity and venture capital.

CEG was one of three winners from Cambridge alongside Convergence Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company developing treatments for chronic pain, and DisplayLink, which has produced a technology to enable enhanced connectivity between computers and displays.

All of the winners are now automatically entered into the national finals which will be announced at a ceremony in London on 25 June.

Private equity and venture capital continues to show its importance to both the local and national economies, and good luck to all of the winners in the national finals.”

Alison Seekings, Partner at Grant Thornton’s Cambridge office who works closely with CEG commented:

“ Cambridge Education Group is a valued client and we are thrilled about the firm’s success in this year’s awards as we continue to support its exciting and evolving plans for the future.
