Innovia picks up two North West business awards
Innovia Group, the Wigton-based manufacturer of plastics to be used in the new £5 and £10 notes, has been named one of the businesses of the year in the North West by the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA).
Innovia, which specialises in producing a range of speciality films for packaging and labelling, was named large business of the year in the North West for its performance over the last 12 months, not least of which was winning the contract to produce the materials for the new plastic banknotes by the Bank of England.
The prize was part of the BVCA Management Team Awards, produced in partnership with Grant Thornton, an annual celebration of the best and brightest UK businesses which are supported by private equity and venture capital. Innovia is backed by Arle Capital Partners.
The business also won in the International Impact category for its activity and expansion into global markets.
Innovia was one of five winners in the North West final of the awards. All will now go on to contest the national finals, the results of which will be revealed at a ceremony in London on 18 June.

“This year’s entrants were drawn from a wide range of sectors but shared much in common in terms of effective strategic vision, solid execution of plans, and talented management teams leading the way. Their achievements demonstrate the value of these fundamental attributes when coupled with the appropriate structure of equity funding – a recipe for really unlocking the potential for growth. The regional winners will help demonstrate the strength and diversity of our economy when they attend the national finals.”
