Nigel Doughty's passing

Mark Florman, CEO of the BVCA, released the following statement on the passing of Nigel Doughty, co-founder of private equity firm Doughty Hanson:

"Nigel Doughty was one of the greats of British private equity and the industry owes him a huge debt for the contribution he made over more than 25 years both to the industry in Europe and to the many businesses that the firm backed and helped build . Nigel was a pioneer in the principles of responsible investing and deeply believed in the importance of good governance and engagement with society - his own work in this field, and in sport, charity and politics, must not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues."

Richard Anton, BVCA Chairman and Partner at Amadeus Capital, said:

"As one of the leading figures in British private equity, Nigel's impact on the industry has been immeasurable. It is not just in the world of finance that Nigel will be remembered, but also for his contributions to the worlds of sport, politics and charity. A generous man of wide-ranging interests, he will be missed by all those who knew him. "
