Prime Minister's business speech
Commenting on the Prime Minister David Cameron's speech to Business in the Community today, Mark Florman, Chief Executive of the BVCA, said:
“With the growing attacks on the role of business in society, largely as a result of perceived excesses in executive pay and bonuses, the UK runs the risk of undermining one of its crowning achievements. Britain has a long and proud business history and this must not be put in jeopardy by short-term, exaggerated rhetoric and political point-scoring. The Prime Minister was absolutely correct in calling business “the most powerful force for social progress the world has ever known” because without the drive for innovation and productivity that is inherent in the private sector, Britain would be unable to compete on the global stage. Rather than the subject of constant attacks, the achievements of business in this country deserve to be celebrated and its impact on British society lauded.”
