Overview

The BVCA's First-Time Fundraising Forum is a half-day interactive workshop designed specifically for GPs raising their first fund. Hear from seasoned practitioners about their lived experiences, as well as established advisers and other industry experts. This event is imperative to attend for any new fund.

Please note this forum is only open to General Partners raising a maiden fund and not individuals within a firm which have raised consecutive funds.

Speakers

Ben Amos, International Counsel, Debevoise & Plimpton

Benjamin Amos is an international counsel and a member of the firm’s Investment Management Group, based in the London office. His practice focuses on advising sponsors of private equity funds, including buyout and distressed funds, in connection with a broad range of matters, such as fund formation and ongoing operational matters and co-investments, as well as advising on carry planning and management team spinouts.


Liz Bailey, Senior Investment Manager, British Business Bank

Liz joined the British Business Bank in February 2019 as a Senior Investment Manager and leads on investments into early stage venture funds including those managed by first time and emerging fund managers through the Enterprise Capital Funds programme. Liz previously worked at Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays Bank PLC managing portfolios of Corporate and SME sized business clients across Yorkshire.


Cesar Faucheur, Strategy & Development, Jenson Funding Partners

Cesar Faucheur is heading up Strategy & Development at Jenson Funding Partners. A graduate from Babson College (US) and LSE (London), Cesar started his career in a hedge-fund as an analyst before co-founding his first venture: Gerep Prevention Sante, France’s first employee assistance programme. A joint-venture with Workplace Options, the US leader.

Cesar was subsequently the first employee of Divido, a UK leading Fintech (backed by Amex, DN Capital and IQ Capital/+£35m in funding), working in business development/strategy and international expansion (France). After leaving Divido he ran IPEM (International Private Equity Market) in the UK focusing on PE/VC funds, the marketplace is now Europe’s largest for small and mid-cap.

Cesar is also a member of the French Tech London.


Jan Faber, Managing Partner, Bregal

Jan Faber joined Bregal in 2004 from Henderson Private Capital, the private equity division of Henderson Global Investors, where he was the head of the global private equity fund of funds business since 2000.

Prior to joining Henderson, Jan was a private equity specialist for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington D.C. and was involved in managing a US$1 billion emerging markets private equity fund of funds program. Before IFC, Jan was a senior investment officer for FMO in the Netherlands where he co-founded the private equity group which was involved in direct and fund investments. Jan began his career as investment manager for Credit Lyonnais in their International Capital Markets Group.

Jan has a Masters in Management Science and Industrial Engineering from the University of Technology in Eindhoven.


Paul Griffith, Director, Funds, IQ-EQ

Paul is a Commercial Director with 17+ years’ experience working for large US, EU & UK financial services firms across funds and capital markets. Paul operates out of IQEQ’s London office, but his works spans across global mandates. Excellent track record building relationships and implementing operating models with prospective launches across private equity/debt, real estate, buyout and VC/VD strategies. Proven successes with managers navigating complex periods of change, including both strategic expansion and consolidation for our clients. Natural communicator and collaborator with innate ability to get things done.


Charlotte Henderson, Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel, All Seas Capital

Charlotte joined All Seas Capital in 2020 as the General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to ASCP, Charlotte was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at ARCH Emerging Markets Partners. Charlotte has 20 years’ experience as a debt finance and M&A lawyer, most of which were in asset management firms.


Misodzi Mukungurutse, Senior Investment Manager, British Business Bank

Misodzi Mukungurutse is a seasoned investment professional renowned for her expertise in fund and manager due diligence, investment analysis and investment risk assessment. With a diverse background in real estate, debt, and alternative investments, Misodzi deployed over £500m in ex-UK real estate transactions for the UK largest Local Government Pension Fund and has played a pivotal role in pioneering impact investing initiatives in her various roles.

Now working for the British Business Bank, Misodzi's analytical approach, research skills, and market insights allow her to identify promising investment opportunities while cultivating lasting relationships.

A certified Chartered Management Accountant with an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, Misodzi seamlessly combines her academic achievements with a passion for travel, alternative medicine, and horticulture.


Naoki Ohta, Managing Director, Barings

Naoki Ohta is a member of Barings’ Diversified Alternative Equity team and is responsible for originating and underwriting secondaries globally and funds and co-investments in EMEA. Naoki has worked in the industry since 1998.


Chiziem Oskar, Research Analyst, Preqin

Chiziem is an economics graduate and analyst within the Preqin Research Insights team. Having interned with the likes of Barclays and JP Morgan, his background and experiences range from M&A to portfolio management, with a focus on healthcare and technology.


Harry Raikes, Co-Portfolio Manager, Schroders Capital

Harry is an Investment Manager in the Schroders Capital European Private Equity team. He is Co-Portfolio Manager of Schroders Capital Global Innovation Trust plc.

Prior to joining Schroders Capital in 2020, Harry worked as an Investment Analyst, with a focus on growth and venture stage investments, both public and private, in the technology, financials and industrial sectors.

Harry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from University of Bristol and the Investment Management Certificate.


Jose Rodriguez, Founder and Managing Partner, Queen's Park Equity

Jose is a founder and Managing Partner of Queen's Park Equity. He has over 25 years of experience in the private equity and financial services industry. Before joining QPE, Jose worked with CDC Capital Partners and Sovereign Capital.

He has successfully supported numerous founders and management teams in the education, health, and tech services sectors. He is passionate about helping businesses with their accelerated growth strategies by implementing buy-and-build strategies and expanding internationally.

In addition, Jose serves as a non-executive director on behalf of QPE on the boards of Learndirect, One Beyond, Sagacity, and Forever.

Jose holds an MBA from London Business School and a BSc in Economics from ITESM.
