Overview

This event marks the launch of the latest edition of the BVCA’s Performance Measurement Survey Report. Produced in association with PwC, the report sets out the findings from the annual performance measurement survey undertaken by the BVCA. The study collates data from BVCA members who invest from the UK and tracks the returns earned for investors over time.

In this session, we will delve into a discussion of the survey results, the implications for investors and the wider industry and a forward look to how returns may be impacted by the current economic environment.

Speakers

Rob Asplin, Partner, PwC

He leads the delivery of performance improvement projects for PE clients, as well as coordinating the PE offering for PwC's Value Creation business across the UK. He is also the lead Investment Partner for a £50m million Welsh government development capital fund.

Rob has been at PwC since September 2021, and for the 12 years prior to that he was a partner at a special situations PE fund, has been management-side as part of an MBO of an engineering group and worked in M&A and Banking for 8 years. He has been a non-executive director of numerous investments and responsible for transformation projects of an operational, financial and strategic nature.


Jeremy Lytle, Investor Relations Partner, ECI

Jeremy Lytle is responsible for investors across ECI’s current buyout funds, and prospective institutional investors for the future. Jeremy enjoys building these long-term relationships and being able to demonstrate how we have supported the growth in ECI’s portfolio and showcase some of the exceptional entrepreneurs ECI have partnered with.

He has helped to lead the past four ECI fundraisings since 2008 raising over £2.5 billion including several co-investments.

Jeremy is part of the BVCA’s Performance Measurement Survey Review Board and Investor Relations Advisory Group having previously Chaired the BVCA’s Responsible Investment Advisory Group. He sits on the ECI ESG Committee and is passionate about ESG and ensuring it is at the forefront of the private equity industry. Jeremy spends a lot of time thinking about how ECI can promote initiatives both internally and in the wider market.


Fraser McLatchie, Director, SEP, and Chair, PMS Review Board

Fraser McLatchie is Director at Scottish Equity Partners where he is responsible for deal structuring, valuations and the financial analysis of new investments. He has been a member of the BVCA’s Performance Measurement Survey Review Board since its inception and in 2023 has become its Chair.


Karim Palant, Director, External Affairs, BVCA

Karim Palant is Director of External Affairs at the BVCA leading the Public Affairs, Communications and Research functions. He has two decades of of tech and economic policy experience. Since 2015 he has led public policy and economic impact projects for LinkedIn and previously Facebook. Prior to that he had extensive experience working in politics and policy making including acting as Head of Policy to the Shadow Chancellor.


Suzi Gillespie, Head of Research, BVCA

Suzi Gillespie has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Suzi currently serves as the Head of Research at the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA), where they spearhead crucial analysis of trends and issues surrounding venture capital and private equity. Suzi also collaborates with external researchers and industry trade bodies to enhance the BVCA’s research offerings. In their previous role as a Research Director at the BVCA, they focused on delivering annual research reports.

Before joining the BVCA, Suzi worked at PwC as a Technology, Media, and Telecoms valuer and Pension Valuations specialist. In this role, they conducted various consulting, regulatory, and economics projects, with a particular expertise in valuations for pensions schemes and companies with pension plans.
