Overview

The BVCA's LP-GP forums are topic-specific breakfast forums, taking place throughout the year in London. These forums are held under Chatham House rule to encourage as much interaction as possible for a productive discussion.

The importance of ESG and Responsible Investment has never been more relevant for the private capital industry. This forum will delve into reporting, data collection, and ESG integration into the investment process.

Speakers

Harriet Assem, Head of Sustainability, BVCA

Harriet Assem is BVCA’s Head of Sustainability. Her role includes leading on sustainability related policy matters for private capital industry including net zero, finance for impact, and sustainability regulation and disclosure requirements. As well as supporting members navigate the ESG landscape by helping to facilitate conversation/knowledge share and sign posting ESG related best practice.

Prior to joining the BVCA she spent a number of years in environmental consultancy. Her most recent role included leading a team which provided ESG related strategy services to cross sector clients including private equity. She also played a lead role in developing and publishing the ESG Transparency A Private Equity and Venture Capital Index.

Previous to that, her career started in environmental due diligence where she worked on several high-profile merger and acquisition deals, providing environmental due diligence advice.


Beth Adamson, Head of Finance, Frog Capital

Beth is the Head of Finance at Frog Capital, a European growth-stage venture capital firm that invests in purpose-led software companies. Frog's USP is the Operating Partner programme, providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies to help them achieve sustainable success. Beth is responsible for implementing Frog's Positive Growth strategy throughout the investment lifecycle. An accountant by profession, Beth qualified with BDO LLP in 2020, where she worked in the Financial Services consulting team.


Ashleigh Brown, Sustainability Manager, Atomico

Ashleigh currently heads the sustainability strategy & execution - which includes responsible investment processes, portfolio support, LP & regulatory reporting, climate strategy, and firm level sustainability initiatives - at Atomico, a leading European venture capital firm with over $4 billion assets under management. Ashleigh has over 8 years experience in VC operations and a CFA certificate in ESG Investing.


Maria Carradice, Managing Director, Mayfair Equity Partners

Maria Carradice joined Mayfair in 2015 to work alongside portfolio companies to identify, quantify and unlock business process improvement activities. Maria’s expertise as both a former practitioner and consultant allows her to focus on opportunities to drive incremental value in areas such as tax, ESG and finance with the aim of supporting the teams Mayfair partners with to deliver their plans faster or with less risk.

Prior to Mayfair Maria worked at LDC where she advised LDC and its portfolio companies on a wide range of M&A structuring, tax, operational and accounting issues as well as advising on fund structuring and related investor issues.

Maria is a qualified accountant, tax and treasury adviser, has a first-class honours degree in Chemistry from The University of Surrey, a PhD in Nanotechnology from Cambridge University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.


Yaron Hill, Director of ESG and Responsible Investing, Adams Street Partners

As Director of ESG and Responsible Investing, Yaron chair's Adams Street's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee, and lead Adams Street's firmwide responsible investing initiatives. His career in corporate sustainability and ESG data and analytics, spans over two decades, helping both companies and financial institutions minimise exposure to sustainability risks and develop ESG-focused strategies. Prior to joining Adams Street Partners, he was at S&P Global Trucost providing data leveraged ESG insights to businesses and institutional investors.


Matthew Johns, Principal, ESG, IH International Advisors

Matthew leads the ESG programme at IH International Advisors (IHIA). IHIA is the private equity investment arm of Interogo Holding - a foundation-owned and purpose-led investor guided by IKEA's vision "to create a better everyday life for the many people". He previously spent four years working in Triton Partners' ESG team and seven year in PwC's Sustainability and Climate Change team advising banks, private equity firms and publicly listed companies on sustainability strategies and initiatives.
