Private Capital in Yorkshire, the Humber and North East England - BVCA Factsheet

The BVCA’s Yorkshire, the Humber and North East England factsheet highlights the important contribution private capital makes towards the region's economy and prosperity.

The factsheet reveals that private equity and venture capital firms invested over £900m into businesses across Yorkshire and the North East in 2022. This investment directly supports 179,000 jobs across the regions, equivalent to 8% of total UK jobs backed by private capital.

Key findings for the Yorkshire and North East regions include:

  • Of the companies supported, 59 received funding via venture capital in 2022.
  • 44 companies received growth funding.
  • Tech was the most prominent sector for investment in 2022 with 50 companies receiving investment.

The factsheet also includes a selection of case studies – exciting companies in the region supported by private capital.
