Roundtables

In-person sessions In-person sessions
The roundtables at the Summit are topic-specific events taking place in London as in-person sessions on various dates in September and October. Hosted by the BVCA, supported by our sponsors, and complimentary to attendees, they provide an intimate opportunity to engage with other GPs on topics of common interest. Please be advised that places at these roundtables are limited and pending confirmation from the BVCA.

The BVCA is committed to bringing in-person events back into our calendar while managing the risk of transmission of COVID-19 to BVCA staff, venue staff and attendees. Accordingly, we have put measures into place to keep us all safe as we make this transition. This includes social distancing, assessing venue ventilation and asking all participants to provide evidence of low contagion risk. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

POST-COVID PRIVATE EQUITY: ACCELERATING PORTFOLIO GROWTH THROUGH GO-TO-MARKET STRATEGIES

Private equity is on a post-COVID tear, with multiple suitors chasing the same UK deals. But this highly competitive market creates significant PE risk. In this environment, expertise in driving top-line growth becomes essential, versus only optimizing costs and pricing. PEs with Go-To-Market expertise will excel at diligence, bidding, and value creation, and will enjoy deal sourcing advantages as a more useful partner. Overall, they will win more and better deals.

However, PE firms are also learning that GTM change is challenging. It requires realigning sales roles, processes, territories, metrics, coaching, and compensation. Faulty targeting and the inability to reach new buyers will not deliver the required growth. Indeed, only 20% of PE firms surveyed believe their portfolio companies will adopt necessary new GTM approaches. Therefore, optimizing GTM leadership and culture change are also becoming significant PE success factors in UK markets.

In this session, we will discuss how to successfully leverage the UK’s competitive deal market. Hosted by Alexander Group, fellow BVCA fund managers will join for an insightful discussion on how PE firms are driving 2022 Portfolio GTM Imperatives including prioritizing buyer segments and journeys, and the right go-to-market strategy to cover them; deploying the right sales, account management and expansion motions for growth products and recurring revenue; expanding lead-gen and sales capacity through well-aligned inside and digital channels; aligning sales compensation to portfolio company growth strategies/roles.

TALENT, TECHNOLOGY, PROCESSES: A ROUNDTABLE UNIQUELY FOR CFOs AND COOs

A roundtable discussion for BVCA member CFOs and COOs, to discuss key issues and share ideas on the asset management industry 2.0.

With increasing pressure on the Target Operating Model, as the cost and operational complexity of in-house administration becomes more difficult to maintain, asset management is having to evolve. The modern C-suites are increasingly required to navigate both additional business complexities and behavioural shifts in investors and employees alike. Covering the three overarching trends responsible for the latest and biggest shifts in the industry the expert panel will discuss talent, technology and processes.

Talent: In a recent survey undertaken by Crestrbidge, 40% of asset managers identified sourcing and retaining talent as one of the biggest challenges to their business. How should CFOs and COOs be addressing the strain and what has been the impact of Diversity & Inclusion?

Technology: How can technology be used to achieve higher degrees of operational efficiency – without it becoming a cost burden? How can it help managers move away from manual and towards automated tasks and redefine the relationship between them and their clients for the better? What role should CFOs and COOs play in this Great Shift?

Processes: How can establishing effective processes help defend against emerging risks and at the same time capitalise on the opportunities presented by digital disruption, data security, regulatory hurdles, market volatility and sustainability practices?

Audience: GPs, Senior Ops or Senior Finance roles only
Location: The Beaumont Hotel, 8 Balderton St, Brown Hart Gardens, London W1K 6TF
